The research group in Trustworthy Autonomous Systems at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI) won first place in the Dalle Molle award of the «Quality of Life» with REXASI-PRO, a project that aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with reduced mobility. By integrating advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies, the project seeks to develop autonomous wheelchairs assisted by drones, enabling safe navigation within complex environments. The SUPSI team, led by Prof. Francesco Flammini, includes Alessandro Antonucci, Jerome Guzzi, Franca Corradini, and Carlo Grigioni.
The aim of the Foundation is to promote quality research that puts digital science and technology at the service of humanity. To this end, each year it awards the “Quality of Life” label to a number of research and innovation projects that meet this objective. Among the innovative research areas identified is that for the support to disadvantaged people facilitating their autonomy, self-fulfilment and dignity.
REXASI-PRO stood out for its visionary yet practical approach, opening new and exciting research avenues in line with the foundation’s objectives. This prestigious recognition underscores the commitment of the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence Studies (IDSIA USI-SUPSI) in developing innovative solutions to overcome barriers and promote full social inclusion.
