Dic 27, 2024

The “Dalle Molle Award for the Quality of Life Label” ceremony was held last Nov. 15 at the East Campus Lugano. The research group in Trustworthy Autonomous Systems at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI) won the first place with a project part of REXASI-PRO, that aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals with reduced mobility.

By integrating advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies, REXASI-PRO seeks to develop autonomous wheelchairs assisted by drones, enabling safe navigation within complex environments. The SUPSI team, led by Prof. Francesco Flammini, includes Alessandro Antonucci, Jerome Guzzi, Franca Corradini, and Carlo Grigioni.

The ceremony kicked off with a lecture by Alessandro Facchini of IDSIA USI-SUPSI on the ethical and epistemological issues of machine learning. During the prize-giving ceremony the jury emphasised the excellence of the project for its “visionary yet practical approach” and capable of opening new exciting research avenues for the quality of life.
